Payment & Donation Safety on RSPS – How to Pay Safely
Donating to an RSPS supports the server and often unlocks cosmetics or perks. But not all payment setups are safe. Here’s how to pay without getting scammed.
Prefer Established Payment Processors #
PayPal and Stripe are widely used and offer buyer protection. If something goes wrong, you have a path to dispute or refund.
What to look for:
- Checkout through PayPal or Stripe (you’ll see their branding)
- Clear receipt and confirmation email
- Terms of service that mention refunds or dispute process
Red flags:
- Crypto-only with no refund policy
- Gift cards (Steam, iTunes) as the only option
- Direct bank transfer or wire with no paper trail
- “Send money to this PayPal address” in a Discord DM instead of a proper checkout
Verify You’re on the Real Site #
Phishing payment pages look like the real thing but send your money elsewhere. Always:
- Type the URL yourself – Don’t click links from DMs or random messages.
- Check for HTTPS – The address bar should show a lock icon and
https://. - Confirm the domain –
ferox.psis different fromferox-ps.comorferox-ps.net. Typos and similar domains are common in scams.
If something feels off, close the tab and go to the server’s official site from our reviews or toplist.
Start Small #
Before spending a lot, test the system:
- Make a small donation first (e.g., lowest tier)
- Confirm you receive the in-game reward or receipt
- Check that support responds if you have a question
If the small transaction works and support is helpful, you can feel more confident about larger donations.
Understand What You’re Buying #
Read the terms. Some servers:
- Don’t offer refunds for accidental purchases
- Don’t restore items if you’re banned or hacked
- Consider donations non-refundable by default
Legitimate servers usually state this clearly. If you’re unsure, ask in Discord before donating.
Avoid Payment Methods That Offer No Protection #
| Method | Risk | When to Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Crypto only | No chargeback, no refund | When it’s the only option and the server is new or unverified |
| Gift cards | Untraceable, no refund | Almost always (common in scams) |
| Cash app / Venmo | No buyer protection | When the server is unverified |
| PayPal | Buyer protection available | Generally safe when used through official checkout |
| Stripe | Standard card protection | Generally safe when used through official checkout |
What to Do If Something Goes Wrong #
- Contact the server – Explain the issue. Many servers will fix accidental double-charges or missing rewards.
- Dispute if necessary – PayPal and card issuers allow disputes for unauthorized charges or goods not received. Use this if the server ignores you or disappears.
- Document everything – Screenshots of the purchase, receipt, and any support messages.
Donating is a way to support servers you enjoy. Doing it safely means using trusted processors, verifying the site, and starting small. For more on avoiding bad servers, see our 5 red flags guide.
